Description
This pencil is a wood-case drafting and office pencil, first produced in 1945 and among the most recognisable writing instruments ever made in Japan. Its olive-green lacquer and black cap have gone unchanged for decades.
The 9800 is recommended for technical drawing, everyday writing and sketching. The hexagonal cedar barrel measures 17.6 cm in length with a 7.8 mm profile across flats (6.93" x 0.31"). The core uses Mitsubishi's matured micro-graphite, available in a full range from 6H to 6B.
Mitsubishi Pencil is a Japanese company founded in 1887. One of the country's oldest pencil makers, they have produced writing instruments prized for the precision of their graphite and the longevity of their industrial design. The "Uni" brand was first introduced as a line of rollerball pens, and has gradually expanded to all of the company's innovative products.
